Hello and welcome to my site. Are you looking for lessons with a classically trained guitarist or electric guitar teacher? My name is Matt Coverly and I am qualified as both a guitarist and guitar teacher, with over 5 years of diverse professional guitar tuition experience (please see my biography for details of my degree and diploma). It is common for advertised teachers to lack formal teaching qualifications despite the important benefits such training brings. As a result of my teaching diploma I can offer professional and efficient lessons that enable students to progress and achieve their potential at the optimal rate. These teaching skills are as integral to a strong teacher - student relationship as patience, enthusiasm and of course, guitar skills.
I offer a very flexible service as I tutor electric, classical and acoustic guitar to all ages and abilities, from beginner to grade 8 and professional standard. I teach 7 days a week from mine or the learner's home, depending on what is most convenient for the student. Lessons are £20 per hour for those coming to me (please see map below for location), and £25 per hour otherwise, (this may be slightly more for long distances). I also teach groups in the same manner. Tuition fees for a two person group begins at £27.50 for an hour. The tuition space I offer is inviting and comfortable with a large variety of specialist resources such as multiple high-end guitars, professional Mac based music software and music library.
My lessons are relaxed and informal, although carefully structured. I aim to encourage students to develop a clear idea of a direction they would like to take, be it learning to read music or play songs by ear, improve speed, or complete guitar grades, etc. Whether you have a strong idea of what you would like to achieve or simply have an interest in learning, I am able to guide and structure a plan for fun and effective improvement. I can provide equipment for use in lessons should it be needed and also offer tuition on music production and sequencing (pro-tools, Logic pro, etc.)
